Privacy

The short version: we compute your chart and keep no record of it. If you choose to sign in, we keep your email address and the people you save, until you delete them. There is no tracking either way.

What you give us

Your birth date, the time if you know it, and a birth place chosen from a list. That is all a chart asks for, and all of it is needed — the date places the planets, the time fixes the rising sign, and the place supplies the coordinates and the historical timezone.

If you sign in, also your email address: it is how you sign in, because we send a link to it and never ask for a password. And if you save people, their birth details and a name you give them.

What we keep, if you never sign in

Nothing, in the ordinary sense. Your chart is not stored anywhere. The address of a chart page contains the birth data it was calculated from, so the page can be rebuilt on demand without us holding a copy. Close the tab and there is no record of the chart on our side.

The honest caveat: because the data is in the web address, it appears in our server access logs, in the logs of the network provider that serves the site, and in your own browser history. Those logs exist to diagnose faults and are kept for 30 days, then deleted. They are not used to build a profile of you and are never sold or shared.

Chart pages also tell search engines not to index them, and are served with a no-referrer policy so the address is not passed on to any other website you visit from them.

What we keep, if you sign in

  • Your email address, the time you first signed in and the time you last did. A sign-in link expires 15 minutes after it is sent and is deleted about a day later; an address that requests a link but never uses it is not kept beyond that day, because the account is created only when the link is used.
  • Each person you save, yourself or anyone else: the name you gave them, their birth date, their birth time or the fact that you did not know it, their birth place, and whether that person is you. By saving someone else’s birth details you are telling us you have the right to; we treat those details as ordinary personal data belonging to that person, and you can delete them at any time.
  • Your sessions: any that is still active, each lasting 30 days from its sign-in, and the record of any that ended in the last week, with when it began, when it was last used and when it ended; older records are deleted.

What we do not keep, even then: any chart, reading or comparison. Every chart is recomputed from the saved details when you open it, exactly as it is for a visitor who types them in.

Cookies

There are no cookies until you ask to sign in. Asking for a link from a page you want to come back to sets one that only remembers that page; it lasts 15 minutes, is read by nobody but our server, and goes when the link brings you back. Signing in sets two more: one that identifies your session to our server and cannot be read by scripts, and one that only tells the page whether to show “Account” or “Sign in” in the header. Those two are removed when you sign out or 30 days after you signed in. All three are strictly necessary for the thing you asked for and carry no tracking. There is still no advertising or analytics cookie of any kind.

What we do not do

  • No advertising or analytics trackers.
  • No selling, sharing or transferring of your birth data, or anyone’s, to anyone.
  • No email except the sign-in link you asked for. We do not send newsletters and we do not use your address for anything else.

The five numbers we do keep

We count five things each day: how many chart pages we served, how many chart calculations were asked for directly through the API, how many place searches ran, how many accounts were created, and how many people were saved. Five totals per day, and that is the whole of it.

What those rows contain is a date, a name like ChartPageServed, and a number. There is no address, no browser, no session, no cookie and no row per visit — so there is nothing in them that could be traced to you, and nothing that would change if you had never used the site except a number being one lower. We keep them because we need to know whether anybody is using this before deciding what to build next, and a daily total is the least we can hold and still know that.

This page promised to say so before anything changed rather than after. Accounts are that change, and this is that notice, published before the first account could exist.

Paid reports are the next change, and the paragraph on Stripe below is that notice. If anything else changes, such as any measurement that touches an individual visit, this page will say so before the change ships, on the same terms.

Who else sees your data, and where it runs

If you ask to sign in, the sign-in email is sent through Resend, a transactional email service, which sees your email address for that purpose and nothing else. If you buy a full report or a reading, the payment is taken on Stripe’s own checkout page: Stripe sees your email address, your payment details and your billing address (it needs the address to work out any sales tax), under its own privacy policy. It is not told your birth data, or anyone else’s: we give it an order number, and the birth details that order is for (for a synastry reading, both people’s) stay here, in a record we delete two days later. What you bought stays with your account, with the birth details it is for, so you can read it again, until you delete the account, and it is in the download of everything we hold. The site runs on servers in the United States and is fronted by a global content network. If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, that means your data is processed outside it.

Sharing a chart

A chart address is shareable on purpose: it is how you send your chart to someone. Be aware that anyone with the link can see the birth data in it. Search engines are asked not to index these pages, but a link you post publicly is public. Saved people do not change this: a saved person’s chart is the same address anyone could type.

Your rights, and how to use them without asking

On the Account page you can download everything we hold about you as a file — apart from a sign-in link of the last day, which is not tied to your account — and edit or delete any person. Deleting your account there removes every row immediately. A database backup taken before you deleted can still hold those rows until it is replaced; backups are kept for at most 28 days and are used only to recover from a failure. Under UK and EU data protection law you may also ask us to access, correct or delete personal data, or object to our processing it; the address below is for that, and for anything the Account page cannot do. If you never signed in, the only personal data that exists is in time-limited logs, and a deletion request will be honoured against those.

You can also complain to your data protection authority — the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK, or your national authority in the EEA.

Children

The site is not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly process their data. A parent calculating or saving a chart for their own child is submitting that child’s birth details under the parent’s account, and can delete them at any time.
